NICK DOUGLAS — Two Brits were arrested recently, each for using someone's home wifi connection. Yes, yes, it's stupid to make it a crime to borrow someone's Internet. But it's also pretty daft nowadays not to just find a wifi cafe or wait til you're home. It's equally dumb to leave a home wifi network open, since it's easy for a visitor to sniff someone's traffic over an unsecure network. Borrowers: Find a network made for sharing, and don't conduct confidential business on an open network. Network owners: Use a password, even a simple one. Hackers: Do what you will with the poor souls who don't follow this advice. (Photo from PC Magazine)
